Bihar Emergency Services - Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) or Dial 112

If you require emergency assistance from Police, Fire & Rescue, Health and Other services, you may Dial 112 from your phone. "An initiative of Govt. of India under the Nirbhaya funds scheme for ensuring safety of women and children" Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) is a Pan-India single number (112) based emergency response system for citizens in emergencies. Each states or UT has to implement it to handle all emergencies request. 

Nationwide Emergency Response System (NERS) - 
We have used different phone numbers, including 100, 102, and 103, to contact the police, fire, and ambulance services. This method was created when there was only one telecom carrier operating in each metro area of India and the telecom industry was regulated. hence, any call to These emergency numbers were forwarded to a call agent or dispatcher of that specific emergency service, who then dealt with them. Initially, the system was intended more as an emergency contact than for emergency response.

Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) - 
In light of the tragic Nirbhaya tragedy in December 2012, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) adopted the Justice Verma Committee's recommendations and authorised the "Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)," formerly known as the "Nationwide Emergency Response System" (NERS),
ERSS Bihar or Dial 112 in Bihar - 
All the state and UTs are required to ensure an active ERSS in their state or UTs. Dial 112 for any emergency service has been started in Bihar on 6th July 2022 by Cm Nitish Kumar. 

What is Dial 112 - 
To contact in case of Emergency - Dial 112. It provides a single emergency response number across the country and 24 Hours and 7 Days (24x7) efficient and effective response system which can receive input from various voice and data services such as voice call, SMS, email, Internet of Things, panic buttons in public transport etc. to attend to citizen in distress.

Dial 112 Works without Network - 
Call on 100 or 101 or 102 gets transferred to 112 - Though 100, 101 and 102 has been merged with single dial 112, if any one call on emergency the call will be diverted to 112. Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has enabled 112 by routing all 112 calls to existing Dial 100 in all States & Union Territories.

Dial 112 is FREE - 
Integration with existing Dial 100, Dial 108 and other emergency response systems. Dial 112 will be the 911 of USA. There is no cost to dial 112 and it works even if cellular network not working.
